For the Sake of the Children

Dear Friends,

Although you don't hear much about the Asian tsunami in the news anymore, the reality is that there are still millions of children that are living with its aftermath each day. To many of them, it means never seeing their parents again. To others, there is the ongoing vulnerability of being kidnapped and sold as sex slaves.

Below is a report sent out by K.P. Yohannan, founder and president of Gospel for Asia. http://www.gfa.org  Please take the time and allow the Lord to speak to you.   There are other links to ministries also reaching to help in this region at the conclusion of this email.

Thank you,

Francis Frangipane

Dear Friends in Christ,

It has been one month since the tsunami, and for many in the West, it is now a distant memory.  The news media has moved on to other topics.  But I have just returned from Sri Lanka and India, and for the children there who lost their parents to the killer waves, this event will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

During my time with these children, I came to understand the depth of their loss -- and what it means for their future.  Who will nurture them during their critical years as they grow from a child into a young adult?  Who will guide their development as they seek meaning and purpose as they go through adolescence and into their critical teen years?  Where will they find life-sustaining hope after their dreams were lost in the waves?

Gospel for Asia is committed to be there for these children as long as God gives us this privilege.  Already, we are responsible for some 10,000 boys and girls who have no one else to turn to.  And we are taking this privilege seriously -- providing water, food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and the nurturing and counseling these traumatized children require.  But even more important, we are letting them know that their heavenly Father will never abandon them, and that through His people, His love will surround them all the days of their lives.

Thank you for remembering these children in your prayers. They need your support now as never before.

May God bless you as you live for Him,

K.P. Yohannan
